A Different Kind of Wedding Experience in Morocco

Most weddings are beautiful.

Morocco does something deeper. It slows people down, pulls them closer together, and turns even the smallest moments into something unforgettable. Maybe it’s the warmth of candlelight inside a riad, the sound of music through narrow streets, or the silence of the desert before sunset. People come to Morocco for a wedding, but often leave with something much bigger than the day itself.

My role is simply to recognize it when it happens.

Where to Get Married in Morocco

Morocco offers very different wedding settings within a few hours of each other, from riad courtyards and desert camps to mountain towns and imperial cities. These are the places I know first-hand.

Marrakech –
Riads, Palaces and Rooftop Dinners

I have photographed weddings in Marrakech, and it remains the easiest place in Morocco to host a destination wedding: an international airport, a wide choice of riads, palaces and garden venues, and planners who are used to guests flying in from Europe. Ceremonies in quiet courtyards, dinners on rooftops, music late into the night.

Agafay Desert –
The Desert, Close to the City

I have also photographed weddings in the Agafay Desert, a stone desert about an hour from Marrakech. It gives you the open horizon, the sunset and the silence couples imagine when they think of a desert wedding, without the long journey to the Sahara dunes. Luxury camps host ceremonies, dinners under the stars and overnight stays for guests.

Fès and Chefchaouen – Beyond the Wedding Day

I have travelled through Fès and Chefchaouen myself. The old medina of Fès is one of the most atmospheric places in the country, and the blue streets of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains are a beautiful setting for a pre-wedding or after-wedding session, or for couples who want to explore more of Morocco around their wedding.

The Sahara Dunes and
the Atlantic Coast

For couples dreaming of the dunes near Merzouga or the Atlantic coast around Essaouira, I am happy to travel there too. Both take more planning, since Merzouga is a long drive or a domestic flight plus a drive from Marrakech, and I’ll help you think through logistics, timing and light before you decide.

Best Time for a
Wedding in Morocco

Spring (March – May)

Warm days, mild evenings and soft light, with gardens in full bloom in Marrakech. One of the most beautiful times for both riad celebrations and desert camps.

  • Comfortable temperatures for outdoor ceremonies
  • Pleasant evenings in the Agafay Desert

Autumn (September – November)

My favourite season for Moroccan weddings. The heat softens, evenings stay warm enough to celebrate outside, and the late-afternoon light is extraordinary. I’ll be in Marrakech again in early November 2027.

  • Long, golden sunsets
  • Warm nights for dinners under the stars

Summer (June – August) is very hot in Marrakech and the desert, often above 40 °C, so ceremonies work best late in the day. Winter (December – February) brings sunny, mild days, cold nights and snow on the Atlas Mountains, which is beautiful for intimate weddings with warm layers and fire pits. Ramadan moves each year; in 2027 it is expected roughly from early February to early March, and many venues adjust their service during this time. I’m happy to help you check dates before you commit.

Your Wedding Photographer in Morocco: What to Expect

Expect a calm, observant photographer rather than someone directing your day. I don’t believe weddings in Morocco need to be controlled every second to look beautiful. Some of the strongest moments happen in between, during movement, noise, silence or complete unpredictability.

That’s why I work quietly. I observe more than I direct, and because I speak Arabic, French, English and German, I can talk directly with your families, your planner and the venue team. Instead of turning the day into a production, I let people stay present inside it. The atmosphere already exists on its own, and my job is knowing when to step closer and when to disappear.

Your Questions, Answered

Arabic, French, English and German. I can talk directly with Moroccan venues, planners and families, which also makes things easy for couples from Germany, Austria and Switzerland getting married in Morocco.

Yes. I have photographed weddings in Marrakech and the Agafay Desert, and I travel across Morocco, from Fès and Chefchaouen to the Sahara dunes and the Atlantic coast.

For destination weddings, most couples invest between €5,500 and €19,000, depending on the location, the number of days and whether film is included. Every collection is tailored, and I’ll send you a personalized proposal once I know your date, venue and plans.

Travel and accommodation are included from the Cinematic Soul collection upwards, so there are no separate costs for flights or hotels. For smaller collections, travel is added to your personalized proposal, depending on where your wedding takes place.

Booking 9 to 12 months in advance is ideal. It ensures your photographer is available and allows enough time to plan travel, permits, and location logistics without stress.
